Hear from Parents and Students
“I was looking for someone who would be a good fit for my child and would go with the flow/pace that my child prefers, with no pressure. My child started practicing more often when learning from Kristie. Kristie is very patient, encouraging and makes piano enjoyable. It’s always a positive experience.”
— Jade (Parent) of Level 8 piano student
“Kristie has been able set me up to succeed my goals in piano. I was able to receive my desired mark in all exams due to her amazing study tips and guidance!”
— Nerine (student). Completed Levels 5-8 Theory and Level 9 Piano
“Piano has definitely boosted my child’s confidence. She was a very, very shy, soft-spoken child who did not like to participate in class. It was always the same comment with the teacher’s conference since Kindergarten. But it was a school talent show that changed everything. My child performed a piano piece in front of an audience. She practiced very hard every day and performed very well. With the applause from her classmates and her teacher praising her, my daughter was very proud of herself, and I believe that was the turning point.”

FAQ
Everything you need to know about in-person piano lessons
-
An acoustic piano (upright or grand) is strongly recommended and always the preferred option. If an acoustic piano is not available, a weighted-key digital piano with 76 or 88 keys is permitted as an alternative.
Unweighted or semi-weighted keyboards are not accepted under any circumstances, as they do not adequately develop proper touch and technique required for RCM examinations.
-
This depends on the student's current level, how consistently they practice, and how much preparation is needed. There is no one-size-fits-all answer.
In general, students who attend weekly lessons and practice consistently between sessions are well-prepared within a regular semester of study. For students joining specifically for exam preparation, I assess their current standing in the first lesson and outline a realistic timeline from there.
If you have a specific exam date in mind, please mention it when you reach out so we can plan accordingly.

I currently travel to Vancouver and Richmond only. If you’re unsure whether your area is covered, feel free to reach out and I’ll let you know.
-
If a student arrives late, the lesson will still end at the originally scheduled time so that the schedule remains fair to all students. If you anticipate being late, please send a quick message in advance.
Students are always encouraged to arrive on time to make the most of their lesson time.
